I found the bruge lace stitch at crochetme.com and was intrigued! I really liked the curvey zig zag look that it created, so I decided to attempt to create a scarf with the stitch!
I’m pretty pleased with the results!
So I’m pretty excited about this one! As I’m sure you all know Easter was this past weekend. I wanted a new dress to wear to my Easter festivities, (church, lunch at my Grandma’s) so I decided that instead of buying one I would attempt to make one!
I bought a pattern a few weeks ago and had been itching to try it… I just needed the perfect fabric. I found said fabric at a vintage store downtown in Cincinnati last weekend and was so excited to use it! It was a very Easter esk pattern.
This dress is pretty easy and didn’t take long to make, yet I love the fit and simplicity! Also, the colors in the fabric go perfectly with my favorite scarf!
I wore it with a bright cardigan, pink tights, and boots for Easter day.
I hope everyone had a good Easter!
So, my grandma died about a month ago. Its sad I know, but she was suffering from Alzheimers and was having a tough time. RIP Grandma Vera Russell.
Anyways, my family has finally gotten started with going through her house and dividing up all of her old things. I was unaware that this was going on at the time, so I didn’t get to partake yet, but my mother brought me some things she thought I would like. (And she was right!)
If you’ve seen many of my previous posts you may have noticed my slight obsession with scarves…. especially the vintage silk ones. Well, I’ve now nearly doubled my collection!
This is my favorite. So pretty.
I was also given a few pairs of gloves (love the yellow ones!) and an interesting fuzzy hat.
One thing my grandma was known for was her quilt making. My mom brought me this one she made. I absolutely love the colors and the pattern!
Well, that is all I have to share today. I am certain this is only the first of a few posts about nifty things found from my grandma’s. I’m glad to have some things I love to remember her by.
So I know it’s been awhile since my last post… I apologize for I have been rather busy putting together another site for my personal portfolio! (I will make a post about that once it’s finished!) I have actually been making a lot of things as of late, but have not really had time to photograph them until today, so now I can post! Anyways, there are a few items I want to talk about:
So I do believe I have made the longest scarf in the whole world… This thing is about 10′ long! I used the crochet puff stitch which is really thick, so as a result this scarf is super warm! I can wrap it around my neck about five times, but I think it looks adorable wrapped three times with a bit hanging down. This same scarf is currently for sale in my Etsy Shop so if you like it take a look!
Yeah I’ve been crocheting like mad… it’s winter. :]
I’ve really been working on my hat making skills as of late and am pretty proud of this one! Finally I have accomplished a slouchy hat!
I’ve also been making a lot of wrap bracelets! I love these, and though I make them with intentions of putting them on my Etsy Shop, I end up keeping about half of them! There are a few different ones in the shop though so take a look!
Well that’s most of what I have been working on except of course my granny square blanket… I know I should be done with it by now, but I decided last minute to add another detail to it that is turning out to be quite tedious work… I’ll be sure to post as soon as its done!
I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted, but my camera USB cable went MIA for about two weeks and I just now have found it! (it was under the sofa go figure). So anyways, I promised I would take my roommate/best friend to my favorite Cincinnati thrift stores over Christmas break, and a few days ago we finally made the trip.
I took her to Valley Thrift Store and also the Goodwill right next to it. Here are my finds for the day!
Travel Case: $2
This little number is some sort of hair straightener case. I really love the fringe it has going on and I figured it would be nice for transporting my straightener and makeup!
Wilsons Leather Jacket: $8
I know I know, another leather jacket… what can I say, I’m a collector. This one is Wilsons like my purple one and I really wanted one that was not a blazer style.
I found this cute yellow and grey scarf at Goodwill. I know I’ve also got tons of ‘decorative’ scarves, but as I said before, I’m a collector. I can’t help it. :]
Well, that sums up my most current finds. My friend also bought a teal blueish colored Wilson’s leather jacket. I wish I had gotten a picture of it. But that is all for now!
So it’s been awhile since my last post I know, but it was finals week at school. I hope you understand! So anyways, I had been working on this scarf for awhile and finally finished it right before all the finals week shenanigans. Unfortunately I then had zero time to write about it until now. I’m just thankful school is done for this semester!
I used the basket weave stitch for this scarf which was rather yarn thirsty and resulted in a thick scarf perfect for the winter weather. I used a multi colored yarn that was a plumy purple, tan, black, and grey. It looked pretty as a yarn ball, but I’m not a huge fan of the results [color wise] for this scarf. I would like it better as different colors, but I know others might actually love this color pallet.
But without further delay:
This scarf will be for sale in my Etsy Shop so check it out!
So I hit up my favorite thrift spot yesterday, and I didn’t really find a whole lot, except these three awesome scarves! If you read my posts about my thrifting finds you have probably noticed that I tend to purchase a lot of these. . . its true… I now own about ten ‘decorative’ scarves. I can’t help it. I just love them!
So anyways, here are the three new additions to my vast collection [and they were only $.99 each!]:
Sorry that you can’t really see the last one very well… dark scarf plus dark shirt equals not much contrast, but it has a really awesome fringe going on! Also, keep in mind that my Etsy Shop is having a 25% off sale now till the end of December! Check it out please!
