West From My iPhone

Hello hello!

So I recently shared my adventrures west with you all… but really those were just the photos from my camera. There were lots of times where I didn’t have my camera with me, and thus used my phone to take photos. (plus I love doing panoramas!) I wanted to share these with you guys too! Take a look!

West. (Vacation Photos)

Hey, Everyone! I’m back from vacation!

This post is all about my travels and a bunch of photos!
WEST

I must say that this trip involved a lot of driving… I wasn’t a huge fan of that. I also wish I had taken more photos of the cabin, and any at all of Denver. I do have more on my phone, so that might end up being another post!

My favorite part (scenery wise) was the Badlands hands down. You can probably tell by the amount of photos I took there! So lovely.

My favorite part (activity wise) was a tie between the cabin we stayed at in South Dakota, or Denver, Colorado. I wish I could have had more time to see Denver… we only stayed one night there. Maybe I’ll make a trip back there!

Now it’s back to daily life in Cincinnati. I do love my city.

Fuji Instax Mini Collage

Hello, hello!

Today I have another small project I did for my apartment! A while back I shared some information about my Fuji Instax Mini camera. At that point I was trying to figure out what exactly I wanted to do with my growing stack of photos taken with the camera. I really love the look of these photos and I certainly didn’t want to stash them away somewhere. I wanted them to be on display!

Well, as you can imagine, I finally figured out how I wanted to accomplish this!

I eventually settled on making a collage I could display out of the photos. At first I decided I wanted to aim for a circle shape. I taped the photos I currently had together into a circle and hung it about my tv.

This didn’t really work out for me…. It was fine for a bit, but I had a hard time getting the photos to lay flat, and I also felt it was missing some sort of ‘wow factor.’ It definitely needed something. Also, I wanted to be able to easily add more photos to the collage as I took them.

At this point I decided that some sort of backing would for sure help out with making the photos lay flat better, so I thought, why not make a big circle, place the photos I have right now in the center, and then add to the outside as I go? Sounded good to me!

I cut out a big circle from a cardboard box and taped my current photo circle in the middle. I then made the decision to construct a grid around those existing photos to place any new photos in.

When I began, I felt like I wanted the grid to be a series of color blocks, so I started out going with that… After maybe a fourth of the circle was complete, however, I felt that I wasn’t super into how it was turning out. I decided instead to opt for an entire gold background and a simple black grid. I didn’t wan to take away the focus from the photos with all of those colors!

I’m now quite pleased with the results! It definitely is a nice way to showcase my little Instax Mini photos in my living room!

May Flowers (and stuff)

Oh hey there, everyone!

Today I have some more photos. I kind of have felt the need to challenge myself a bit photography wise… so I’ve decided to start doing a monthly photo series basically starting last month with April Showers. So of course I had to follow that up with May Flowers!

Well. May flowers and stuff… cause I only really have a few flower shots… I hope you understand.

Fuji Instax Mini

Hello!

My post for today is featuring a camera I received as a birthday gift (by request of course) back in December, and I must say, this camera has very quickly become a favorite toy of mine! Better even than my Holga I so dearly love! The camera I’m talking about is the Fuji Instax Mini!

The great thing about the Instax is that it prints out the photos instantly like a Polaroid does! I’ve been taking this camera with me on a lot of adventures lately so it has gotten tons of use!

I love the vintage, old-style feel of the photos!

One problem though, now I have a pile of Instax photos just sitting on top of my dresser…. I need to find something interesting to do with them! I’ve been looking for some inspiration and found some intriguing ideas here and here. I was also thinking of making some sort of nifty scrap book with them. Any suggestions are welcome!

April Showers

Hello everyone!

(<3 Whale Boots!)

So spring has finally sprung here in Indiana! I'm beyond stoked to be done with all the cold and the snow. Not my thing… There was a lovely calm rain going on the other day. I felt the need to snap some pictures because it just felt so tranquil. So out in the rain I went, and you know what? It didn't bother me one bit.

Here are a few of my favorite shots:

NeoCon and Chicago.

Hello hello!

So its been about a week since I posted last. The reason behind this is because I’ve been visiting Chicago! Yep, the windy city (which I learned allll about believe me). Anyways, I was visiting Chicago to attend this three day event called NeoCon. Basically NeoCon is huge event for Interior Designers and Architects showcasing new products. You can also attend seminars and learn all sorts of new things. NeoCon was a new experience for me and it was an enjoyable one. I wish I had taken some pictures, but unfortunately for me, I managed to forget my camera at home for this week! The only photos I do have are from my mother’s camera.

We did a lot of things in Chicago. Some of my favorites were the “Bean” sculpture in Millennium Park, Shedd Aquarium, and also visiting Frank Lloyd Wright’s home and studio in Oak Park. Like I said, I didn’t get a lot of photos, but here are the one’s from my mother’s camera:

Hope everyone is having a good summer! It’s been ridiculously hot here in Muncie, IN. I’m definitely glad my apartment complex has a pool! How are keeping cool these warmer months?

Lately….

Hello hello!

It feels so good to be finally done with school! My graduation ceremony is tomorrow and I couldn’t get anymore excited! In the meantime I’ve been relaxing and filling my days with crafty and fun things!

Iced tea and coffee have been key liquids in my diet as of late. They go along perfectly with the weather we’ve been having here lately.

I’ve found myself doing a few sewing projects this week (one I intend to post about soon!) I’m so thankful for the bags of vintage fabric my grandmother gave me last summer. Its nice to be able to make things on a whim and have all this pretty fabric on hand!

I know this isn’t the best picture, but one of the best things about the past few weeks is that my roommates and I rescued a kitten! We found her hiding in a stump at the local park nearly starved to death! At first she was super jumpy and cautious of us, but she has been warming up a lot and is just adorable. One of my quick sewing projects was the bed she is on in this picture!

Finally, my roommate/best friend and I did a fun sort of whimsy feeling photo shoot the other day just for fun! Take a look at some of my favorite shots!

Holga Photos (Finally!)

Hey there!

So earlier this year I got my hands onto a Holga camera and promised I would make a post about the photos I took with it. Well, its been awhile (I’ve been so busy with school lately it being the last week) but that promised post is finally here!

I’ve taken three rolls of film thus far, one color and two black and white. Unfortunately the color film (being my first attempt) had too many light leaks and not many of the photos turned out. For the next two rolls, however, I learned.

I do like the effect of the light leaks in the photos that were usable though.

One roll of black and white I took at home mostly of my pets, while the other I brought with me to my family’s Easter celebration. There are shots of my family and also things from our walk through the woods.

Enjoy:

A Walk Through The Woods.

Hello all!

So this week is my spring break from school (which is somewhat frustrating considering it is not even spring yet and has in fact snowed last night…) and since I did not go on vacation anywhere I have been rather bored. Yesterday I decided to take a walk through to woods behind my house and took my camera along. I practically grew up in those woods; I was in running through them pretty much every single day in my childhood. I photoshopped a few of my favorite shots from the walk:

It was a pretty nice (yet still chilly) day, but the sun was just starting to go down. I have always loved the lighting at that time of day. I am still waiting for my Holga photos to be developed, but hopefully they arrive soon.
