Tea For One.

Hello hello!

Today I actually have some new thrifting finds to share! It’s been awhile since I have posted about anything thrifty. About time I change that.

So, first up is a lovely corduroy jacket I got for $6. It’s originally from the Gap, and I love that the inside lining is a pretty fabric!

Next I have a mini upcycle. I was super stoked to find this 1990 Reds World Series sweater for only $1! The only problem was it was an extra large and swallowed me… It was simple enough to take in the sleeves and the sides a bit though!

My final find I have to share with you I one that I am very pleased to have found! I have begun a recent obsession with loose leaf tea. Its fantastic. (My favorite place to buy it is from here) Anyways, this find was perfect timing. It’s a ‘Tea for One’ set! The set is complete with a mug, a little teapot, and an infuser for loose leaf. I only paid $4 for this set, and I was very excited when I looked it up online and found that its $32 here!

I must say this little set gets a ton of use!

Well that is all of my current thrifting finds worth mentioning! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Crochet and Denim

Hello, Hello!

I have a new upcycle today! I’m pretty excited about this one! Mostly because it was a lot of work…but also because I’m really pleased with the results!

DSCN4278

I had been on the prowl for a denim shirt in the thrift stores for some time now. I had the idea for this upcycle and so finding the perfect candidate was important. I finally found one I considered worthy a few weeks ago!

Before:

For this upcycle, I cut out the back of the shirt and used the cut out part as a template to crochet a design. I really wanted it to be somewhat lacy. After I had the crochet part done, I sewed it in the place where the back had been cut out. Done.

After:

I’m really happy with the pattern I chose to go with! I like how its both a bit geometric and lacy! I also am a huge fan of the combination of denim and crochet! I did an upcycle for crochet shorts over the summer and they were a huge hit!

What do you think of the denim/crochet combination? Love? Hate? I’d like to know your opinion!

Suede Shirt Upcycle

suedeupcycle

Well hello. everyone!

I have a new upcycle today! I found this (faux) suede shirt at Goodwill a bit ago. I had been playing with the idea of suede shirts ever since I saw a few at Forver 21 in the fall. I wanted one. I knew this. I just didn’t like any of the ones I found in the stores enough to purchase… so when I found this shirt, well, I figured for $3 I could pretty easily make it into something that suited me!

So anyways, here it is as I bought it:

I really love the pattern:

Basically I cut off the sleeves, (maybe a reoccurring thing for me but what can I say?) and attached a fun and colorful pattern to the existing collar. I still felt, however, that it was missing something… so I ended up painting the buttons! I feel that was just what it needed! I used an acrylic craft paint and then went over that with clear nail polish… Hey, it works!

Nifty yes? I love it.

Also, if you didn’t notice, I’ve attempted to up my photos on here a bit… I feel I’ve been kind of lazy (okay not kind of…) photo wise, so I’ve set a personal goal for myself: no more bad photos in bad lighting. It’s going to happen.

Hexagonal Upcycle

Hello, friends!

I have a new upcycle to share with you today! It’s one of my recent thrifting finds! I got this chiffon (I absolutely LOVE chiffon) button up at a Goodwill one fine afternoon. The color and nifty hexagonal pattern caught my eye. Of course the fit and the style.. well not so much.

Before:

It came equipped with these lovely shiny cuff links as well!

So to make this work out better for me, I took in the sides a bit, chopped off the sleeves, and then turned the cuff links into more buttons on the front. (The shirt has hidden buttons behind the strip of fabric down the front.)

Much better yes? I think so!

On another note, I recently got a Tumblr so if you would like do follow me! Also, check out my Etsy shop if you like pretty things!

Until next time,

Floral Dress.

Hello all!

So today I have a brand new upcycle to share! I’ve had this dress for quite awhile. I got it from Goodwill back in August or so and was super enthusiastic in the beginning… unfortunately I can’t find the before pictures from way back then, but I promise you it was awful. Think something along these lines:

I just really liked the feel of the fabric and the floral print. Anyways, I immediately developed an idea of what I wanted the dress to look like and got to cutting. After awhile, the dress wasn’t really turning out how I envisioned, so I became discouraged and ultimately stashed the dress away in the bottom of my ‘to be worked on’ pile…

A few weeks ago I was going through said pile, and came across it again. I decided to give it another go with a new idea, and I must say I wasn’t disappointed this time!
After:

I ended up turning it into a halter with a deep back. I feel its a nice and breezy dress for a hot summer day (just like the ones we’ve been having!)

New Stuff!

Hello everyone!

I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted, but my camera USB cable went MIA for about two weeks and I just now have found it! (it was under the sofa go figure). So anyways, I promised I would take my roommate/best friend to my favorite Cincinnati thrift stores over Christmas break, and a few days ago we finally made the trip.

I took her to Valley Thrift Store and also the Goodwill right next to it. Here are my finds for the day!

Travel Case: $2
This little number is some sort of hair straightener case. I really love the fringe it has going on and I figured it would be nice for transporting my straightener and makeup!

Wilsons Leather Jacket: $8
I know I know, another leather jacket… what can I say, I’m a collector. This one is Wilsons like my purple one and I really wanted one that was not a blazer style.

Scarf: $2
I found this cute yellow and grey scarf at Goodwill. I know I’ve also got tons of ‘decorative’ scarves, but as I said before, I’m a collector. I can’t help it. :]

Well, that sums up my most current finds. My friend also bought a teal blueish colored Wilson’s leather jacket. I wish I had gotten a picture of it. But that is all for now!

Purple Jacket

Hello!

So I have a new thrifting post for you today! My roommate and I were picking through things at Goodwill the other day and I came across this jacket. It’s Wilsons Leather and is a purple suede material. The inside is a floral print which I love, and the edges are lined with a sort of velvet material. I could go without that, but it’s not a deal breaker. Anyways, the jacket was supposed to be about $6, but was on sale for half off! When I took it to check out, the cashier even decided to count it as a blazer instead of a jacket, so I ended up getting it for a grand total of $2.50! Not bad right? :]

Sorry you can’t see it very well in the picture. I have no excuse… Well that’s about all I have to say. Make sure to check out my Etsy shop!

I Really Like Scarves…

Hi everyone!

So I hit up my favorite thrift spot yesterday, and I didn’t really find a whole lot, except these three awesome scarves! If you read my posts about my thrifting finds you have probably noticed that I tend to purchase a lot of these. . . its true… I now own about ten ‘decorative’ scarves. I can’t help it. I just love them!

So anyways, here are the three new additions to my vast collection [and they were only $.99 each!]:

Sorry that you can’t really see the last one very well… dark scarf plus dark shirt equals not much contrast, but it has a really awesome fringe going on! Also, keep in mind that my Etsy Shop is having a 25% off sale now till the end of December! Check it out please!

Cardigans Galore

Well hi!

I finally have come across some time to post about my latest thrifting trip! This past trip was somewhat of a special occasion because it was a reuniting of long lost friends! My friend Josh from high school has been busy with the Army for quite some time and I had not realized he was back in town now! Of course as soon as I found out we instantly set up a hang out date. I decided to introduce him to the magic that is Valley Thrift Store. My all time favorite.

So here are the finds that I scored that day [It was actually about 2 weeks ago!]

This lovely white cardigan. I really liked the pattern.

This seafoam green zip up cardigan sweater thing. My favorite color. :]

I love the pattern on this super comfy sweater! Problem was the sweater was wayyy too huge on me, even by comfy sweater standards… so I slimmed it down to fit me. Easy. :]

And to top it off, I also added a new silk scarf to my vast collection. :]

Well that about sums it up for my thrifting finds.

On a different topic, today is Cyber Monday! They day to support eCommerce stores. As a result I am offering a FREE gift of a set of crochet coasters with any order on from my Etsy Shop today! So make sure to check it out!

I’ve Been Going a Bit Crazy…

Hi!

So as of late, I have been all about going to the thrift store just about every chance I can get [if you haven’t noticed from my most recent posts]. As a result, I constantly have a bunch of new things to post about! Of course I buy a lot of things to upcycle and alter, but I’m still working on those so be on the lookout for when they are done!

My trip to Goodwill today with my roommate [and bestest friend] ended up lasting about 2 hours and our cart was so full we ended up having to put half of it back and pick our favorites out of the things we had found because it was simply going to be too much even at Goodwill prices!

Anyways, here are my finds:

First up is a lovely [and super warm and comfy!] Tommy Hilfiger sweater. I thought the design was neat and only about $4. [Don’t mind my lovely ‘I’m about to go to bed hair,’ lack of makeup, and fuzzy blue socks]

Next up are these little green bowls. I couldn’t resist. $.49 each. :]

Finally, I found this leather shoulder bag. I know, I know I just bought a leather shoulder bag… well. .. this one is bigger! And its different! [Pretty much I have no excuse I just have two now..] Anyways, the brand is Etienne Aigner, and when I looked it up online the bags seemed to range anywhere from about $40 to $180. I paid $2 for mine. :]

Well that about sums it up! [for today anyways!] Thanks for actually reading and feel free to check our my Etsy Shop any time!
