Interior Design Magazine: May

Hello, hello!

So, I know I’ve been MIA for a week or so… Life gets busy sometimes. Or maybe I just get lazy. Or maybe its a combination of both? We’ll go with that.

What is important is that I’m back, and its time for my Interior Design Magazine post for May!

As always, I’ll start with my favorite projects from the magazine!

First up is this fantastic mausoleum in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. Designed by HGA Architects & Engineers, this lovely building features a granite facade along with marble, bronze, mahogany, and onyx. I love how the rough granite texture works with the shiny gloss of the marble. Texture is one of my favorite things to play with!

This mausoleum was built to hold up to 10,000 remains, and also has a chapel, and a lounge. To top it all off, it was built surrounded with 4 acres of beautiful landscaping!

Next up is a temporary pop up shop for one of my favorite fashion designers Louis Vuitton! The shop was designed to feature a new line and collaboration with Japanese octogenarian multimedia artist and certified iconoclast Yayoi Kusama. Yayoi is well known for her pumpkin sculptures and polka-dot paintings, so the installment, done by Marc Fornes & the Very Many, features carbon fiber ‘pumpkins’ and water jet cut polka-dots.

I love the unique and artisticness of this shop!

My final favorite from this issue is the new Adobe offices! This building, located in Utah, was a design collaboration of architecture firm WRNS Studio, and interior design firm Rapt Studio. The idea was to create a space that would promote the flow of creative juices, while featuring not the Adobe products themselves, but what could be created with Adobe products.

The structure was built with a wing going straight across an interstate! They view this as an effective advertisement solution. Genius really. Check out more information and photos of this awesome building here!

Okay, on to my highlighted products!

One:
Emma J. Shipley with Camira Fabrics. I love this gorilla jungle upholstery fabric titled ‘Tangled’!
Two:
Aceray chairs. I an a huge fan of the new line of seating offered by Aceray! I enjoy the shapes of these chairs a whole lot.
Three:
Shaw Contract Group: Hexagon. The idea of carpet squares being anything but square is a great thing to me!

Well, I do believe that wraps it up for this month! Check out more from Interior Design Magazine here!
I promise to try to not disappear again for a while… but life is busy! :]
